A Communal Heat Network is a system where heating and hot water is produced in a central communal plant room and then sent to all the flats in the building.
At North End House the works to replace the heating and water services systems have been ongoing over the past few years. The equipment which was installed 60 years ago has become antiquated, is well beyond its realistic life expectancy, is prone to failure so was in need of replacement. Star Blocks A & B and North Block have already had new systems installed so were taken off the centralised system and are now benefiting from a much improved system and performance.
The proposed works this year are to replace the Communal Heat Network for South & Centre blocks to provide a modern, efficient communal heat network which is cheaper to run, cheaper to maintain and reduces carbon emissions.
